THE SPRING ISSUE IS ALMOST HERE!

March 24, 2021 By Matthew Supinski

It’s only days away!… the new mega-spring issue of Hallowed Waters Journal-it’s our best yet! Over 200 pages and stunning images, fly patterns and the tactical passion and hunt for trout/salmon/steelhead- the way fly fishing journals were meant and used to be! We pride ourselves with knowing we are providing the most comprehensive/in-depth content and scope possible, done with prose, reflection and analysis, archival knowledge and the natural science to guide us. In this issue we are honoring the Mayfly- we explore and dive into the spring and summer hatches from the noble Drakes and Hex from North America to the U.K.; to the delicate Sulfurs of our east and Midwest, to the western PMD legacy. We also celebrate “Spring Silver”: Coho salmon and steelhead in the surf with salter/coaster brookies, lake-run browns/sea trout, to ice-out landlocked Atlantic salmon from New England to the rust belt of the Great Lakes- and  finally the king of all fish!-early springer Atlantics’ from Iceland, Scotland to Norway.

We then take you on a deep forest to cow pasture hunt of stalking the joys of small stream trout-the hidden jewels from your backyard waters to mountainous jewels. From New England’s Maine to the Adirondacks, to the Blue Ridge of Virginia and finally to Michigan’s Hemingway hallowed waters country of legendary status.

And then its the sulfur mayfly hatch legacy from the gentle iconic limestoners of Pennsylvania to the wild trout filled Mecca of the South Holston in Tennessee, as we are so honored to feature the best of the best contributors that share this passion throughout our entire spring issue.

Plus so much more: fly tying, science and scientists, historians, artists, books and authors, and a unique epicurean chef forager/food and spirits column you won’t see in angling publications- in this issue honoring “the flesh of the kings and gods-salmon!”, exploring incredible dishes and recipes on smoked and fresh salmon dishes- also spring micro-brews!…come and join us on this passionate journey that embodies the entire facet of fly fishing and the natural world. We hope it will re-think and rekindle your angling and artistic relationship with these amazing fish forever!…come to www.hallowedwaters.com– subscribe today!
